Everyone has heard this phrase before. But what is the true meaning?
For my bachelor thesis I looked into this matter and dealt with the problems of the industry, especially the side effects of drugs. One of the biggest problems is drug addiction, which is a side effect of a special group of pills named Benzodiazepines.
There is a lack of information and awareness of this possible side effects of these kind of drugs. Since the medicine is only available on prescription, the patient does not worry about it at home. There are a few curative ways to fight drug addiction. However, the success rate of curing is only 50%. But there are nearly no preventive measures to eliminate the risk of getting addicted to drugs.
The goal of my bachelor thesis is avoid the emergence of drug addiction. Furthermore I want to encourage people to think about their own behavior when it comes to medication and to change it if necessary.

Diese Floskel hat jeder von uns schon einmal gehört. Was hat es jedoch damit wirklich auf sich?
Darüber habe ich mir in meiner Bachelorthesis ausführliche Gedanken gemacht und mich mit den Missständen in der Medizinbranche beschäftigt, speziell den Nebenwirkungen von Arzneimitteln. Eines der größten Probleme ist hierbei die Medikamentenabhängigkeit, die ebenfalls eine „Nebenwirkung“ der sogenannten Gruppe der Benzodiazepine (Beruhigungsmittel) ist.
Es fehlt die Aufklärung, sowie das Bewusstsein über diese möglichen Nebenwirkungen des Medikaments. Da die Medizin verschreibungspflichtig ist, macht sich der Patient zuhause keine Gedanken mehr darüber. Für Menschen, die von Medikamentenabhängigkeit betroffen sind, gibt es kurativ bereits einige Möglichkeiten, die Sucht zu bekämpfen. Die Erfolgsquote der Entwöhnung liegt jedoch nur bei 50%. Es fehlt an präventiven Maßnahmen, die die Entstehung dieser Abhängigkeit schon vorab verhindern.
Das Ziel meiner Bachelorarbeit ist es also, der Entstehung einer Medikamentenabhängigkeit entgegen zu wirken. Des Weiteren möchte ich jeden potenziellen Patienten dazu anregen, sein eigenes Konsumverhalten in Bezug auf Medikamente zu hinterfragen und gegebenenfalls zu ändern.

TAKING THE PILL - receiving information through the senses
The most important thing when the patient takes the medicine is, that he does not take it by the way. It needs to take a longer time to accomplish the act of taking the pill so that the person who takes the medicine keeps it in mind and thinks about it. The patient needs to ask himself if he needs the medicine right now and if it is worth licking on this ball for a longer time than just taking a pill in 2 seconds. The effort to get the medicine is higher with this CAPSA.
At the same time, the act of taking the pill should have a calming effect on the patient who focuses on the licking when he takes the pill. This is good, because benzodiazepines (this kind of medicine) often gets prescribed when the patient has symptoms of anxiety disorders.
MEDIZINEINNAHME - Informationsaufnahme über die Sinne
Wichtig bei der Einnahme ist, dass der Patient diese nicht nebenbei durchführt, sondern bewusst wahrnimmt, dass er gerade diese Medizin zu sich nimmt.
Er soll hinterfragen, ob er diese Medizin gerade wirklich braucht und ob es das Wert ist, länger an diesem Ball zu lecken, als eine Pille einzuwerfen, was 2 Sekunden dauert. Der Aufwand wird durch CAPSA erhöht.
Gleichzeitig soll dieser Akt der Einnahme auch zur Beruhigung beitragen, da Benzodiazepine oft bei Angststörungen verschrieben werden. Durch die Konzentration auf das Lecken verschiebt der Patient seinen Fokus weg von der Angst.

CONCIOUS WAY OF TAKING MEDICINE
Capsa is a small capsule with a small ball which should help the patient to concentrate more on the act of taking the pill and being aware of this action.

CAPSA ist eine kleine Kapsel, in der sich eine Kugel befindet. Diese soll helfen, dass der Patient sich mehr auf den Akt der Medizineinnahme konzentriert und sich mehr Bewusst darüber ist.
CONTROL OF THE DOSIS
The ball inside is layered in 14 different layers with medicine in each of the layer. Each layer is one dosis of medicine. It is like one layer would be 1 pill.
KONTROLLE DER DOSIS
Die Kugel im Inneren ist in 14 Schichten aufgeteilt in der sich jeweils eine Dosis der Medizin befindet. Das heißt, eine Schicht wäre eine Pille.
ELIMINATION OF RISKS
14 layers for a maximum of 14 days to take the medicine eliminate the risk of getting addicted to this kind of drugs. In addition to that the dosis gets smaller the more the patient takes the drugs.
RISIKO ELIMINIEREN
14 Schichten für ein Maximum an 14 Tagen, für die das Medikament reichen soll minimiert das Risiko der Sucht solcher Medikamente, die erst auf Dauer ein Abhängigkeitsrisiko aufweisen. Die Dosis verringert sich, je länger der Patient das Medikament nimmt.
CHANGE OF TASTE, SURFACE & COLOR
The surface of every layer changes as well as the color and the taste of every layer. This is the reason why the patient knows when he has to stop licking the medicine.
VERÄNDERUNG VON GESCHMACK, OBERFLÄCHE UND FARBE
Die Oberfläche in jeder Schicht verändert sich, genauso wie die Farbe und der Geschmack. Dadurch erkennt der Patient, wann die Schicht zu Ende ist und er aufhören muss, daran zu lecken.
